Young Red-Head

dsc_0150

I’m really not trying to overdo it with birds, but we had had some good encounters and photo ops this weekend.  There were red-headed woodpeckers all over the place in the creek valleys of this park.  The adults were flitting around a lot and it was hard to get a good shot, but this juvenile (with still mottled red feathers on the head) was digging beetles out of a dead snag and let us get a picture!
