Swainson’s Hawk

Another resident of Raptor’s Eye.  This bird was caught as a nestling and raised by a would-be falconer, but caught up in a case of mistaken identity.  Swainson’s Hawks live in the western deserts (this one is from Utah) and eat insects, spiders, and scorpions.  His human keeper got frustrated he couldn’t teach the hawk to chase rabbits, and that it instead preferred to play with butterflies – so the hawk was abandoned, but totally imprinted on humans.
