A slight pink hue on the belly is not the first thing you notice about this woodpecker, but that’s where it gets its name. This Red-Bellied Woodpecker has been hanging around our backyard the past few days, and his red cap and zebra-striped back are hard to miss as he flies through the woods. We haven’t seen the female yet – she should have red on the back of the neck, but not the top of her head.
