These aren’t literally New Year’s Eve pics – they’re from a couple weeks ago, mid-December-ish, as the Sun made an impressive show on a dramatic cloudscape reflected in the river.
But sure, it’s a metaphor.

Of interest, I found that one of the smart-phone cameras in the group (a Motorola) captured this in vivid orange and red, which was very close to true color as perceived by the eye. The other (a Samsung) insisted on tinting everything toward purple and blue. Both are realistic interpretations, and both are beautiful, but it’s an unexpected difference. It all depends on where you focus, and where you decide to place your attention.

No matter how you perceive the end of 2025 – I hope 2026 brings you joy, prosperity, community and personal growth.
Happy New Year!
Stunning shots. Wishing you many more camping adventures in 2026!

Let’s see, do I want an orange or a purple New Year. Gorgeous photos, both. And how right you are in terms of focus. Have a great 2026!
