Just a quick reminder that today, Feb 24, marks the extent of Mars’s western motion across the stars, and from here on out, it will be moving back in its correct, eastern direction.
Note its position this week, in the center of Gemini, and keep tabs over the next couple weeks as it trends BACK toward Pollux, near where it was a month ago.

Flying Squirrel Outdoors 
I read that this is the closest to earth that Mars will be until 2035. More reason for checking it out.

Generally this pass was a close one – but we missed the closest approach back on Jan 12 (~59M miles), it’s already slipped out to almost 71M miles as we’ve zoomed by!
In 2035 we’ll be down to only 38.5M miles away at closest approach, less than half the distance between Earth and the Sun (0.41 au)!
