Appalachian Trail Autumn

DSC_1065

The gnarled tree, rockslides, fall color and flat light give a soft character to this grand-daddy of all long trails, the Appalachian Trail.  From here on the slope of Hawksbill, it’s only 820 miles to Springer Mountain, in Georgia.  But you’d better hurry – winter’s coming.
